Tour description: During this tour, you will discover the country's northern part. Crossing one of the remote regions with off-road 4x4, the discovery of an endless expanse of the steppe, high rugged mountains, hundreds of livestock-camels, goats grazing on the plains, eternal blue sky, and experiencing the hospitality of nomads.

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar

Arrival in Ulaanbaatar. Your guide will welcome you and pick you up from the airport. Have dinner and check into the hotel.

Day 2: Elsen Tasarkhai

After breakfast, our journey will start driving to Elsen Tasarhai. This scenic area boasts sand dunes stretching from north to south, offering the opportunity for camel riding. Explore the local culture with a visit to a nomadic family. Overnight sleep in a tourist camp.

Day 3: Kharakhorum & Erdenezuu

After breakfast, start driving to Kharakhorum, the ancient capital city of the Great Mongol Empire. It was also considered to be the centre of the world. We will visit to the Kharkhorum museum as there are no remaining ruins to visit. Next to the museum, discover Erdenezuu Monastery, once the epicentre of Buddhism and among the earliest monasteries constructed in Mongolia. Overnight sleep in a tourist camp.

Day 4: Taikhar rock

Travel to Tsetserleg town, the center of Arkhangai province for 130kms. Visit Zaya Gegeenii Khuree, a large old Buddhist monastery, remarkably intact, preserved as a museum-but with an active community of monks. Then we continue our drive to Taikhar rock, is 25 meters high a mysterious steep-sided pinnacle of granite. Stay overnight in Ger camp. (B/L/D)

Day 5: Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur

Travel to Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur for 180kms, is an astonishingly beautiful lake, which was formed by dam of lava flows from volcanic eruption many millennia ago. On the way we will see river Chuluut, flows through a sheer basalt canyon which extends 100 kilometers. Stay overnight in Ger camp.( B/L/D)

Day 6: Trekking to Khorgo

Today we will trek to Khorgo mountain, a dead volcano which lies east of the lake Terkhiin Tsagaan. The volcanic crater of the mountain is 200 meters wide and 100 meters deep. The northern slope is covered with Siberian larch forest. Stay overnight in Ger camp. (B/L/D)

Day 7: Shine Ider town

Travel to Shine Ider town for 250 kms. Today we will be exploring beautiful flowers covering the valley. In the evening, enjoy a camping experience in the picturesque steppe landscape (B/L/D)

Day 8: Khuvsgul Lake

Travel to Murun town, the center of Khuvsgul province for 125kms. After lunch at local restaurant continue travel to the crystal clear lake Khuvsgul for 110kms. Stay overnight in Ger camp. (B/L/D)

Day 9: Walking around the lake

Today we will enjoy walking around the lake, where we explore rare medical herbs and wildflowers. Also you can climb up a surrounding mountain to get a panoramic view over the lake. Stay overnight in Ger camp. (B/L/D)

Day 10: Uran Togoo Extinct Volcano

Now we head back to Ulaanbaatar. On the way we will make an overnight sleep next to Uran Togoo mountain- an extinct volcano with a crater of 600m wide and 50m deep and explore surrounding natural beauty. We can go hiking in the mountains. In the evening, enjoy a camping experience in the picturesque steppe landscape (B/L/D)

Day 11: Amarbayasgalant monastery
In the morning, after we pack our camping gears, travel to Amarbayasgalant monastery for 260kms, is one of the three largest Buddhist centers in Mongolia. Arrival at Amarbayasgalant monastery. Visit and explore. Stay overnight in Ger camp. (B/L/D)

Day 12: Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, we will start driving to Ulaanbaatar on a paved road for 280 km, anticipating a journey of 5-6 hours. We will be delighted to drop you off at your hotel. Thank you for joining us on this memorable journey.

Lake Khuvsgul

Khuvsgul Lake is located in the northwest of Mongolia near the border to Russia, at the foot of the eastern Sayan Mountains. It is 1,645 m above sea level, 136 km long and 262 m deep. It is the second-most voluminous freshwater lake in Asia, and holds almost 70% of Mongolia's fresh water and 0.4% of all the fresh water in the world

Uran togoo Natural park

It’s the most beautiful and the most famous volcano of Mongolia. It was active 20 to 25 millions of years ago. We can find an exceptional and plenteous fauna and flora. In effect, the lava that flowed there many thousands of years ago gave way to a very fertile environment. A hike along a footpath through the Siberian larches will lead you to the crater.

Erdene Zuu Monastery

In 1580s, by the order of Dalai Lama first temple of Erdenezuu monastery was built on the ruin of Mongolian ancient capital city Kharkhorin. By 1792s there were 62 temples, over 500 buildings nearby. The monastery was registered in “ Heritage of Mongolia” by UNESCO.

The Amarbayasgalant Monastery

Amarbaysgalant, one of the most important monasteries of Mongolia, located in the foot of Burenkhaan Mountain. It was built by Manchu Emperor between 1727-1736 with more than 40 temples in honor of Saint Zanabazar, the first Bogd and the great artist. The architectural construction of the monastery is amazing. The main style is Chinese while it combines little Tibetan and Mongolian architecture

Gandan Monastery

It is the largest and most significant monastery in Mongolia. The first temple of the monastery was built in 1809 and moved to the present location in 1838. Over the next century the monastery grew to include nine institutes, a library and housed around 5000 monks. Gandan became an important center for learning and practicing Buddha’s teachings in Mongolia.

The Capital city

The capital of Mongolia finally settled on its present site in 1778. Territory of the Capital Ulaanbaatar city occupies 470,444 hectares of land, covering areas of the mountain ranges in the tributary basin of the Tuul river west bank, and the Tolgotiin Nuruu range to the north and Bogd Khan mountain. Holy mountains surround it; the Bogd Uul Mountain to the south, the Songino Mountain to the west, the Bayanzurkh Mountain to the east and the Chingeltei Mountain to the north.

Your holiday contract

When you book a tour or other travel arrangements our contract with you takes effect when we send you a written confirmation /by info@tourmongolia.com this e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Once contract is made we are responsible for providing you with the tour you have booked and you are responsible to pay us for it, in each case subject to terms and conditions.

Please note

It is important to check carefully the written confirmation of your booking when you receive it, or if booking are late that all the details are exactly as you requested. Our responsibility is to provide you with the service you have booked as described in the itinerary and as confirmed to you. In parties of two or more people, the person who makes the tour booking by signing our booking form or otherwise contracting with us, accepts responsibility for making all payments to us for all members of the party. We will send all documents and other information to that person who will in turn be responsible for ensuring that the other members of the party are kept fully informed. If you are aged under 18 /on the date of departure/ and your parents of guardians are not travelling with you, they must write to us with their consent.

Prices

Once you have confirmed your booking the price of your tour is guaranteed and will not be subject to any surcharge.

Payments

Payment of the price of your tour is due: a/ If you decide to book your tour program, we require you to pay 100 percent more than 3.5-4 months prior to departure.b/ Payment can be made by bank wire transfer. Bank details will be given to you in advance with our invoice.

Special requests

If you have any special request that does not form part of the tour as described in the itinerary /for example, dietary requirements or room location/ please let us know. We will always try to meet such requests, but cannot guarantee to do so. In no circumstances will such requests, be accepted by us to form part of our contractual obligations and we will not have a liability if they are not met.

Changes

If you want to change any of the details of your booking after we have sent you confirmation we will do our best to help. You must confirm any change in writing to us. /We recommend that letters are sent by e-mail/. If we are able to make the change there will be a charge. If you wish to make any changes whole on tour /e.g. upgrading your accommodation and staying alone in a Ger in the tourist camp/ all requests are subject to availability and any extra fees must be paid.

Cancellations

Cancellation will be calculated as set out below and will be notified to you by mail or e-mail within a week of cancellation. When the cancellation letter is received by us prior to departure charges as per person: More than 8 weeks – 15 percent only Less than 8 weeks – 30% of the tour fare Less than 6 days – 100% of the tour fare

Complaints

If you have a complaint while you are on tour you must tell immediately your tour leader and guide, who will make every effort to resolve them. They will complete a report form with you giving details of your complaint and the action taken resolve it and you should keep a copy of this to keep. If after your tour, you will feel a complaint remains unresolved, you must tell Tour Mongolia about it in writing within 30 days. Complaints regarding any services not directly connected with Tour Mongolia, should be raised with the relevant supplier.

Liabilities

We accept full liability for the proper performance of our obligations under our agreement with you for the provision of your tour. If you suffer damage by our failure to perform or, our improper performance of our agreement with you for the provision of your tour we accept liability except in the following circumstances. a/ If the failure or improper performances was due to the acts or omissions of the persons affected, or those of someone else not connected with the provision of your tour, and which were unforeseeable or unavoidable, or an event which either we or the supplier of the services in question could not have foreseen or avoided even with all the due care. b/ If the failure or improper performances is your fault or the fault of any member of your party. We will not be liable for failure of performance or improper performance of the services and any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay of the transport, caused by force majeure. This means things beyond our control such us civil unrest, riot, government restriction, industrial dispute excluding our own employees, Act of god /such as natural disaster/, fire, disease or adverse weather conditions. Before the commencement of the tour, you must arrange your own insurance with an insurer, with protection for the full duration of the tour, to cover personal injury, medical expanses, repatriation expenses, loss of baggage and the expenses associated with cancellation or curtailment of the tour. If you become ill during the tour, all hospital expenses, doctors’ fees and repatriation costs are your responsibility and we shall not be liable for any refund of the tour cost.
