Day 1: Feb 28 Ulaanbaatar
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to hotel. Optional full and half day tours are available.
Day 2: Mar 01 Ulaanbaatar/ Ice Festival
Meet our team and drive to Chinggis Khaan Airport. After a short flight arrive in Murun, center of Khuvsgul province. Upon arrival drive to the frozen lake Khuvsgul. Have dinner and spend the night in a ger camp on the lake shore.(L/D)
Day 3: Mar 02 Ice Festival-Ice Marathon
After a relaxing breakfast, enjoy the opening ceremony of the Ice Festival. Watch traditional Mongolian folk music concert and a shamanic ritual. Today will mark the beginning of the first round of the Ice Marathon. Ice skaters will participate in a100km race. Guests will have plenty of opportunities for photography, horse riding on the frozen lake, and a visit to a nomadic family in the area. After dinner, a foreigner wearing the best Mongolian Deel will be elected and awarded with a medal and a certificate by the office of the province governor. (B/L/D)
Day 4: Mar 03 Ice Festival-Ice Marathon
The ice driving competition will take place among local drivers. Ice wrestling, horse sledding, horse riding, a visit to a nomadic family, and many other activities are available to you. After dinner, the closing ceremony will be celebrated with fireworks. Spend the night in a ger camp. (B/L/D)
Day 5: Mar 04 Ulaanbaatar
Breakfast at the ger camp and drive back to Murun for the flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to a hotel. Have a leisurely day and spend the night in a hotel. (B)
Day 6: Mar 05 Eagle Festival
Meet our team and drive to the Chinggisiin Khuree area to attend the Eagle Hunting Festival. Watch interesting activities such as the eagle hunting competition, horseback archery competition and eagle training demonstration. Have a picnic lunch on snow. After the festival finishes (by 5pm), drive back to Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the hotel. (L)
Day 7: Mar 06 Camel festival
Travel to the airport for the morning flight to Dalanzadgad (1.5 hours), the capital of Umnugobi province, a semi-arid desert zone in the south-Gobi and southernmost province of Mongolia. Check in to your gers and enjoy dinner at the lodge. (L/D)
Day 8: Mar 07 Camel Racing
The competition begins with the race of adult camels. It is followed by the two-year-old camels’ race. It is possible to place a bet and back the camel of your liking. The camels will be judged on their speed during 12km and 15km races. The first three camels to cross the finishing line fastest in each age category are awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals. Enjoy lunch in Bulgan soum. In the afternoon, the most anticipated competition begins. This competition is the “Camel Relay;” It consists of catching, taming, training and finally loading a camel with an actual ger. There are several teams of 5 members. Each member of the team performs a different task. The closing ceremony takes place later in the afternoon, where the winners are presented with trophies. Dinner and overnight stay a camp. (B/L/D)
Day 9: Mar 08 Ulaanbaatar
After an early breakfast, drive to Dalanzadgad for your return flight to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, transfer to your hotel. (B)
Day 10: Mar 09 Departure
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport for international departure.
